ECB Collateral

Access to Central bank liquidity is an important part of a bank’s operation. Banks and other Eurosystem counterparts may obtain credit from their local central bank using eligible securities issued and held in VP LUX as collateral under the Eurosystem Correspondent Central Banking Model (CCBM).

Collateral operations

In order to use securities issued and held at VP LUX as collateral the counterpart must transfer the eligible securities to an account with VP LUX maintained by Banque Central de Luxembourg (BCL). BCL operates as correspondent central bank on behalf of the local central bank.
